Product Update: A More Flexible, Faster, and Insightful exnaton Platform

February 26, 2025
Gabrielle E.

We’re releasing three new updates designed to simplify workflows for utilities, provide clearer energy insights for end users, and offer more flexibility when integrating exnaton into your existing customer portal. Here’s what’s new.

1. New Rate Plan Editor — Build and Manage Tariffs With Less Effort

Our updated rate plan editor makes it easier to create, adjust, and assign complex rate structures. The goal: reduce manual effort, simplify recurring tasks, and give utilities more control over pricing logic.

What’s new

Intuitive click-to-create workflows

Build rate plans using pre-configured components such as:

  • fixed fees
  • fixed rates
  • market-based rates
  • local dynamic tariffs
  • time-of-use rates
  • custom formulas

This modular structure helps you assemble even complex tariffs faster and more consistently.

Rate plan templates

Create and save templates so you don’t need to rebuild plans from scratch. Templates can be edited, reused, and versioned — ideal for utilities managing multiple product variations or regulatory updates.

Simplified account assignments

Assign rate plans to:

  • whole energy communities
  • defined customer groups
  • individual accounts

All within a few clicks, ensuring cleaner workflows and reducing configuration errors.

2. New Stacked Bar Charts — Clearer Energy Insights at a Glance

To help end users better understand their energy production and consumption, we’ve added stacked bar charts to the analytics view.

What this enables

  • A full overview of consumption and production in one chart
  • Transparent visibility into how much energy comes from self-generation, the community, or the grid
  • Easier identification of optimization potential (e.g., shifting load, increasing self-consumption)

With a single visual, users can track trends, compare sources, and make more informed decisions.

3. More Flexibility With Web Components in Your Customer Portal

While our white-label app continues to offer a ready-to-use interface, many utilities want deeper customization within their own customer portals. We now offer standalone web components that integrate seamlessly into existing frontends.

What you can do

  • Select only the components you need
  • Arrange or style them according to your own UI
  • Extend your current portal without rebuilding it

This approach combines the reliability of exnaton’s backend with maximum UI flexibility — ideal for utilities that want a fully unified digital experience.
